WHY SENJA?

Senja is one of the most beautiful Norwegian islands. An encounter with this island will give you an experience of a lifetime. Senja is called “Norway in miniature” because one can experience here literally all the Norwegian landscapes gathered in one place: steep mountains, sandy beaches, valleys full of countless lakes, vast plains or different fjords: broad in the east and dramatically narrow in the west. Senja offers incredibly lot of possibilities of tours and excursions, treks or hikes, biking or water sports, climbing or skiing… to make it short: it’s a paradise for Norwegian friluftslive style lovers. We want you to experience all of its charm. We want you to enjoy it. We want you to taste it. We want you to never forget the good time spent on the island we love. Senja is also a landmark of uncontaminated wildness where one can spend the time away from mass tourism that comes to Tromso city or the archipelago of Lofoten. This is why we choose Senja to make you experience the northern lights away from light pollution or any civilisation.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE OF YOUR STAY IN THE ARCTIC*

Day 1

Meet & greet your professional aurora guide and other participants in the arrivals hall of Tromso Airport. The guide will drive you in a 4x4 vehicle equipped, if needed, for your safety and comfort in arctic winter conditions with studded tires, to your accommodation on the island of Senja (approx. 3h drive). On the way you might be able to admire the breathtaking nordic landscapes or - depending on the time of your arrival to Tromso - you might have the first try of aurora chase. Arrived to Senja Island you will find your comfortable accommodation in a typical wooden Norwegian house situated directly by the fjord (two twin rooms and one triple room), time for a short refreshment and relax at the fireplace. Welcome dinner. After dinner we take off for the first real northern lights chase.

Day 2

After breakfast (prepared on spot, based on local products) your guide will take you on around the island tour. You will drive along unforgettable scenic route that is part of National Norwegian Tourist Route and will make plenty of photo stops on different viewing platforms or the most beautiful beaches. We adopt the tour’s program to actual conditions and weather forecast as well as participants’ fitness capacity though we make sure that you profit to its maximum of your stay in the Arctic, see all important places and experience it more than most of the tourists coming to Senja. In the afternoon we’re back to our accommodation base, have time for relax at the fireplace and dinner. After dinner we head for the second aurora chase night.

Day 3

After late breakfast - depending on the time of your return from aurora chase the night before - the guide will take you to discover other corners of the island, the picturesque Husoy and caraibic - like (if not for the air and water temperature) beaches. While touring the island we have a big chance of encountering native wildlife (eg. reindeers, moose among others) in its natural habitat. Depending on snow conditions we will take you on a scenic snowshoes walk (in case of lack of snow we will do a simple but still beautiful hike) that will end with a picnic next to an open fire. Return to your accommodation. Dinner. After dinner the guide will take you for the last tour in search of the aurora.

Day 4

After breakfast transfer to Tromso airport. Depending on your flight departure time the guide will propose you a panoramic drive through the island of Kvaloya and/ or will do a guided walk in the city center of Tromso, making sure that you’ll get in time for your flight back home.

* we reserve ourselves the right to change the program of particular tours or the entire stay in case of force majeur, extreme weather conditions (storm, snow storm, icing, strong wind etc.) or official authorities’ recommendations. The Arctic weather and the power of nature might be unpredictable but this is also why we love to live here.

THE STAY PACKAGE INCLUDES:

  • stay in the Arctic in a small group of fellow passionates (max. 7 participants) - we put emphasis on comfortable visiting, touring, relaxing
